I have done the unthinkable people; I have broken my neutrals and safe colour lipsticks I usually wear and have evolved into this new world of bright and bold lipsticks. I’m sure I’ll be going back to my usual colours soon.
My take on it
This new Mac x Good luck trolls lipstick in Midnight, a lipstick I purchased from a Mac store in Downtown Toronto. This lipstick is not for the faint hearted, its very bold, bright, rich navy blue hue; sometimes I find that when the light reflects on it, it changes colour to almost violet.
Even though it’s meant to be matte finish it has a tint of satin look and feels to it so, in my opinion, I don’t think it qualifies as fully matt.
The lipstick is true to the colour, and it's long lasting. Anytime I have it on I don’t need a top up for over five hours or so and even after I wipe it off because of the intensity of the colour, it leaves a little trace on my lips.
The packaging is overwhelming, very colourful; it has a summer vibe, it’s vibrant with the Troll’s logo on it. It’s not drying but make sure your lips are smooth and not flaky or choppy looking before applying to achieve the even look or else it will emphasise it.
M·A·C Good Luck Trolls lipsticks come in four striking colours, which was launched on 28th July this year but my favourite by far is this midnight Troll. Mac refers to this as “a crazy-hued collection as silly as the creatures themselves”. Even though we don't associate a troll with glamour, this lipstick I feel can be accessorised to look glamorous. Apply directly to your lips to get your desired look.
Verdict: I won’t recommend wearing this lipstick on a daily basis because the colour is just too outthere. Beautiful and bold vibrant colour, perfect for special occasions, however, ensure your lips is even and smooth before applying as it accentuates your flaws.
